Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that while the arrangements in urban areas were affected due to heavy rains in this monsoon, farmers in rural areas had to face a lot of difficulties due to excessive rainfall. The state government has left no stone unturned in providing assistance in this hour of crisis.
Chief Minister Chouhan transferred assistance amounting to Rs. 202 crore 64 lakh into the accounts of affected farmers of 19 districts of the state which were hit by floods and heavy rains including Vidisha, Sagar, Guna, Raisen, Damoh, Harda, Morena, Agar-Malwa, Balaghat, Bhopal, Ashoknagar, Sehore, Narmadapuram, Sheopur, Chhindwara, Bhind, Rajgarh, Betul and Seoni districts with a single click. The affected area of districts hit by excessive rainfall and floods is about 2 lakh 2 thousand 488 hectares. Chief Secretary Iqbal Singh Bains and other senior officers were present. Collectors and farmers of the affected 19 districts virtually attended.
Chief Minister Chouhan said that the State Government is ready to provide assistance to the affected persons at the time of crisis and to extend necessary support to the general public in case of distress. Necessary disaster management was done at the time of floods and heavy rains. Public representatives were also active along with the administration in times of crisis.
Chief Minister Chouhan said that some districts in the state were affected by excessive rains. The state government made all necessary arrangements in such a situation to ensure that while no one loses life due to excessive rainfall, no one has to face any other problems. Where there was a flood situation, people were rescued and shifted to relief camps and safer places.
Chouhan said that after the flood waters receded, work has been done to clear the debris accumulated in the villages, to make arrangements for pure drinking water and now to provide assistance to the farmers for the damage caused.
The list was also displayed in the Gram Panchayats after conducting a survey of crop damage. An amount of Rs 43.87 crore has been disbursed earlier for damage to houses and household material and cattle loss. Today, assistance amount has been transferred to the accounts of 1 lakh 91 thousand 755 farmers. Money has been deposited in the bank accounts of the beneficiaries in a transparent way. Earlier, survey work was done by a joint team of officers and employees of Revenue, Agriculture, Horticulture and Panchayat and Rural Development Departments.
Chief Minister Chouhan also discussed with some beneficiaries after transferring relief amount to the affected farmers. These included Manmohan Singh Dangi of Vidisha district, Shri Sanjeev Vishwakarma of Sagar and Ranglal of Guna district. Beneficiaries said that they did not have to make rounds for the approval of assistance in connection with the survey work. Survey work was completed on time with integrity.
Revenue Minister Govind Singh Rajput, who virtually associated with the money transfer programme, said that Chief Minister Chouhan understands the plight of the farmers. He has always stood as a shield for the poor. The state has received average rainfall in 23 districts this monsoon.
Three districts of the state are in the category of excessive rainfall and 26 districts are in the category of above average rainfall. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Chouhan, work has been done to provide necessary assistance to the affected families without delay as per the provision of the Revenue Book Circular.
