Excise officials on Wednesday seized 297 gram of brown sugar from a house at Mahantipada in Bargarh town and arrested a drug peddler in this connection.
The arrested drug peddler was identified as Raju Tandi. The estimated market value of the seized contraband is around Rs 30 lakh.
On the basis of intelligence inputs, the excise officials conducted a raid at the house of Tandi at Mahantipada under the Town police station and seized brown sugar weighing 297 gram from the house.
The Excise officials also seized Rs 1 lakh cash and other incriminating materials from the possession of the accused.
A case was registered against the accused under relevant sections of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985.
The accused would be forwarded to the court and further investigation was ongoing, police said.
