Cyber-crime Bhopal booked an unidentified miscreant for duping to the tune of Rs 7 lakh in the name of selling branded mobile phones; over 50 people across state have been duped, said police.
The victim Jatin Wadhwani runs a mobile phone store and ordered mobile phones from Global Particle store and provided Rs 7 lakh as advance but never received mobile phones.
Victim runs mobile phone store at Idgah Hills and used to buy mobile phone and accessories from different sources. The victim found Global Particle store over Instagram. The victim contacted with store where he was offered mobile phones and accessories.
The victim provided Rs 7 lakh to the accused for advance for the mobile phones and accessories. After placing the order victim was never provided with mobile phones and accessories.
Later victim lodged complaint with the cyber cell and based on the complaint police registered case against the unidentified miscreants.
In the technical analysis, it was found that the accused had cheated scores of people across different regions.
Based on the complaint after the preliminary investigation, the police registered a case under section 420 of the IPC.
Police said that when victim tried to call mobile numbers were found to be switched off and later he lodged complaint.
Later, in the investigation it was found that the accused has cheated several victims across the country.
The number of victims could be numerous who have been duped by the accused would be investigated.
