SDMC cracks down on factories running without safety nod

Friday, 20 May 2022 | Staff Reporter | NEW DELHI

In order to avoid fires in the national Capital, the South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) has been conducting a survey of factories and industrial units under its jurisdiction, during which the civic body has removed the power connection of 42 factories and slapped notices to 57 factories, said a senior official.

According to a senior SDMC official, the decision to this effect has been taken considering the likelihood of fires in the summer season.“During the survey work, it is being ensured that the factories have been running with proper licences, fire NOC and safety norms or whether there is any violation.

SDMC has been conducting surveys of factories, especially in industrial belts and non-conforming areas. Recently, the survey of as many as 161 factories has taken place, out of which 57 factories were found without valid licence,” he said.

“The SDMC teams, during their inspection, removed power connection of 42 factories and slapped notices on 57 factories. The survey was done under the observation of Assistant Commissioners of respective zones by forming teams comprising Licence Inspector and other zonal officials,” he said.
