Union Home Minister Amit Shah campaigned in Kairana assembly constituency in Shamli on Saturday amidst rain and bad weather, appealing to the people to vote for the Bharatiya Janata Party candidates.
BJP candidate Mriganka Singh, UP Sugarcane Development Minister Suresh Rana and MP Pradeep Chaudhary were also present with Shah in the public relations programme.
During the door to door campaign, slogans of Jai Shri Ram and Modi-Yogi Zindabad were raised by the party supporters.
Addressing the media in Kairana, Shah said that he was visiting Kairana for the first time after 2014.
He said, “This is the same Kairana where migration used to take place but now those who forced such migration had themselves migrated. The exodus victims say that now they have no fear and are doing business with peace.”
Shah said that overall development had taken place after the formation of the Central government under the leadership of Narendra Modi in 2014 and the formation of the government under the leadership of Yogi Adityanath in UP in 2017.
The Union home minister said that this time the BJP will cross the 300-mark in the UP polls.
Later, Shah left for Meerut where he will hold meetings with party leaders and assembly in-charges.
