Sisodia seeks CBI probe into ‘`6K cr scam' by MCD

Thursday, 06 October 2022 | Staff Reporter | New Delhi

Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia on Wedesday demanded a CBI probe into the alleged Rs 6,000 crore scam in collection of toll tax by the BJP-ruled Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD).

Sisodia wrote to Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena saying, “You did not pay any attention to that scam because it's done by the BJP. I had written to you two months ago for a CBI enquiry into the scam of Rs  6,000 crore by the BJP-run MCD (Municipal Corporation of Delhi), you did not consider it important to even acknowledge my letter," Sisodia wrote, in Hindi. This came a day after the Lieutenant Governor ordered a probe into Delhi's free electricity scheme, a selling point of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and AAP.

“Despite having so much proof in front of you, probably, you cannot see corruption in the matter because here the corruption has been done by BJP. You are setting a record of making false allegations and ordering investigation in fake cases against the democratically elected Government of Delhi every day and night intending to stall the work of the government,” Sisodia stated in his letter.

“During its 17 years of reign at MCD, BJP has turned Delhi into a pile of garbage. There are garbage mountains all across Delhi, from small lanes to major big roads. As a result of failure of leadership in MCD, Delhi stands at bottom of list of cities in the country in terms of cleanliness. If you would put in some attention towards it properly, then there is a chance that roads might look clean,” said Sisodia.

“You (L-G) can get as many investigations done as you want. Our government is a Kattar Imandar government and is not afraid of any investigation,” Sisodia said. in his letter.

. But you are requested not to turn away from the real scams in the midst of all this. You should have ordered a CBI inquiry by now on the basis of the letter I wrote to you two months ago regarding corruption in the MCD. I request you to rise above petty politics and order a CBI inquiry into this matter immediately,” Sisodia further said in his letter.

Sisodia, in his letter, also reiterated that "there is nothing at all" in the "liquor policy scam" that he's accused of in a CBI probe ordered by the Lieutenant Governor in July.
