An elderly woman died after being slapped by her son late on Friday night in Sundargarh district, which came to the fore on Saturday morning and police arrested the accused.
Puni Tanty (65) had been staying with her son Saroj (35) at Guala Basti of Kumbharpada under the Birmitrapur police station. She had got widow pension two days ago. Saroj asked her to give him the pension amount, but she refused. Saroj slapped her, following which she died on the spot.
