A Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) trooper was injured on Friday after Naxalites exploded an improvised explosive device (IED) in Chhattisgarh’s Kanker district, the police said.
The incident took place near Patkalbeda village when a team of the SSB’s 33rd Battalion was out protecting railway tracks, Kanker Superintendent of Police Shalabh Kumar Sinha said.
When the patrolling team was cordoning off a forest near its camp in Kosronda village, Naxalites detonated an IED in which a trooper sustained injuries, Sinha said. He was admitted to a hospital.
Two battalions of the SSB were deployed in Tadoki and Rowghat areas in the district since 2016 for guarding the under-construction Dallirajhara (Balod district)-Rowghat (Kanker) railway project.
