Students should assimilate Mahatma Gandhi's philosophy: Prof Tiwari

Vice-Chancellor of Jiwaji University (JU) Gwalior professor Avinash Tiwari on Sunday said students should assimilate Mahatma Gandhi's philosophy and ideology in their life to bring forward their careers.

VC Tiwari was addressing a seminar organised by the centre of Journalism and Mass Communication (JMC) on the University campus to observe the birth anniversary of the 'Father of Nation', Gandhi and former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri.

"Gandhi is a philosophy and an ideology. As much as you adopt Gandhiji you progress more in life. He always followed the path of truth in his whole life. At present, his principles are all the more relevant to society", Tiwari said, in his presiding speech.

Addressing as a chief guest, ADM Gwalior IkshitGadpale said that youth must have to go in the right way themselves then they can serve society and the nation.  "For this, they should understand the principles of Gandhiji and adopt them in their life", Gadpale said.

Gandhian Dr Arvind Dubey addressed the seminar as a keynote speaker. He threw light extensively on Gandhi's life focusing on his contribution to the freedom struggle through a PPT presentation.

Senior journalist Dr Satyaprakash Sharma also addressed the seminar, he explained how Gandhi's philosophy is more relevant in the present scenario.

 At the outset of the event, the guests lit lamps and paid floral tributes to Gandhi and Shastri. The Head of the Journalism department S N Mohapatra delivered the welcome speech. Faculty of JMC department Shyam Pathak convened the programme.

On the occasion, art faculty dean Hemant Sharma and registrar of varsity,  Rajendra Singh Baghel were present as special guests.

Other faculty members were also present such are; SK Singh, Harendra Sharma, Gopal Tyagi Satyendra Singh, Sanjay Pandey, UpjeetKour, Satyendra Nagaich, Pushpendra Singh Tomar, Vijay Pratap Dhakad, Hemant Sagar etc.

Students of the JMC department, Nitish Kumar, Manjhuri Kaushik, Nandni Shakya, Bhupendra Chouhan, Deepak Sharma Kuldeep Gupta, Paridhi Shivhare, Buddha Prakash, Pinky Rajput, Anjali Goswami, Khushi Dixit, Vrinda Pandey, Sneha Sharma, Deepak Ojha, and Aditya Singh Sikarwar took part in various cultural activities.
