The 23rd session of the ‘Odisha Bigyan ‘O’ Paribesh Congress’ will be held at Sambalpur University (SU) on November 26. The theme of the two-day conference, organised under the joint auspices of the Orissa Environmental Society (OES) and the Sambalpur University, is 'Science and technology in combating climate change.'
There will be in-depth discussion on global warming, climate change and the natural disasters accruing out of these, as they are blowing out of proportion progressively, besides focusing on the role science and technology in combating the awful impacts. The theme bears greater significance for Odisha as it is a coastal State and is experiencing more natural disasters at present. In this context, the first preparatory meeting of the organizing committee was held on virtual mode under the chairmanship of OES president Dr Sundara Narayana Patro. Congress convener and secretary of OES, Dr Jaya Krushna Panigrahi presented the welcome address at the beginning and explained the programme details of the two-day agenda.
On behalf of the Sambalpur University, convener and HoD of Chemistry,Prof Amaresh Mishra and organising secretary and faculty of Biotechnology Dr Smaranika Patnaik presented their views on various issues. More than 500 delegates are scheduled to join the conference.
