Fighting the Congress government in Chhattisgarh is a challenge "but we will face it", the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) new state President Arun Sao said on Saturday.
"The workers are excited. All the best will be done with full responsibility as given by the national leadership," the MP said.
Arun Sao reached Raipur for the first time after being named the BJP state chief. He was welcomed by party activists at the airport and at several places in Raipur.
He told the media that the ‘lotus’ -- the BJP election symbol -- will again bloom in Chhattisgarh.
He said the situation in Chhattisgarh now was grave. "Every section of the society is upset and feeling oppressed. The mafia has entered into sand mining, liquor, drug, cement and coal."
He alleged shortages of fertilizers, seeds and gunny bags, and lack of houses for the poor.
"There is a need to uproot this government," he said.
