Two arrested for death threats

Sunday, 03 July 2022 | Staff Reporter | DURG

Chhattisgarh Police on Saturday arrested two persons including a woman for allegedly giving death threats to a 22-year-old man in Durg district after he shared a social media post in support of former BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma over her remarks against Prophet Mohammad.

Durg Superintendent of Police Abhishek Pallava identified them as Kasif alias Kunal Sendre (22) and Ritika Bharati (20), both residents of Raipur city.

Raja Jagat of Kumhari town on Friday lodged a complaint with the police, who registered an FIR.

Jagat had posted a comment on his Instagram handle in support of Sharma on June 12, following which he received a threat from two unidentified persons, who told him that he will face dire consequences.

Jagat later identified one of the persons threatening him as Kasif. They were arrested from the state capital.
