The two-day national conference on laparoscopic surgery started in the new building of the Government Doon Medical College (GDMC) on Saturday. The director general (DG) medical education department Ashish Kumar Shrivastava inaugurated the workshop. Speaking at the occasion, he said that the department is achieving new dimensions and accomplishments due to the better medical facilities being available in the State. The Principal GDMC, Dr Ashutosh Sayana said that soon a trauma centre, lifestyle clinic and other medical facilities would be made available in the medical college hospital. The director general (DG) State health services, Dr Shailja Bhatt said that the coordination between the health and medical education departments help in providing better and prompt health services. In the workshops surgeons from the different parts of the country participated. Experts also performed live surgery to demonstrate various aspects of the laparoscopic surgery in the workshop.
