On the International Day of Drug Abuse, De addiction and Illicit Trafficking on Sunday, the Utkal Chamber of Commerce and Industry (UCCI) in association with the Bhubaneswar Police Commissionerate made a noble contribution towards the financial settlement and livelihood support of the addicts who were clinically treated and rehabilitated with the effort of IIEC DREAMS.
The UCCI donated 20 food and vegetable carts to the former traffickers and addicts who were counselled back to lead a normal life and offered to stand on their own leg and make a place for themselves in the social mainstream.
UCCI president Brahma Mishra led the project and contribution, which was lauded by Officer on Special Duty to the State Chief Secretary, Dillip Routray, and Commissioner of Police Saumendra Priyadarshi.
The food and vegetable-carts were handed over by Mishra in a ceremony conducted at the Police Commissionerate headquarters.
Such an initiative and collaboration was unique in its kind showcasing the cooperation between the Government and the industry sector towards social responsibility and holistic upliftment of those who once fell and are now striving to rise.
