Sunday, 02 October 2022 | Staff Reporter | bhopal

BJP leader and former CM Uma Bharti, who took a U-turn on the issue of prohibition in Madhya Pradesh, will now take out a padyatra in Bhopal.

On October 2, she will perform the aarti at Curfew Wala Mata Temple, Peer Gate in old city before setting on the padyatra. After this, along with CM Shivraj Singh Chauhan, she will attend the programme of the government to be held in Motilal Nehru Stadium.

Let us tell you, Uma Bharti has surrounded the Shivraj government many times on the issue of alcohol. Apart from pelting stones at the liquor shop of Bhopal, she has been agitating from time to time.

About 3 months ago he wrote a 3-page letter to BJP President JP Nadda and also made it public. In the letter, she expressed her anguish on this issue.

Uma had also demanded the implementation of a uniform liquor policy in all the BJP ruled states. She had declared to continue her fight for prohibition and said that she would march with women on the streets on Gandhi Jayanti.

Uma discussed with the media in Bhopal on September 09 and took a U-turn on the issue of prohibition.

Uma, who appeared annoyed with the Shivraj government, had said that Shivraj ji has assured a change in the liquor policy.  Uma had also claimed that a large number of women would participate in the programme to be held on 2 October. Now it will be interesting to see how much women's participation remains in the march.

On March 13, former CM Uma Bharti had reached Barkheda Pathani in BHEL area. Uma entered a liquor shop located in Azad Nagar here and broke bottles with stones.

Before and after this, Uma has demanded a prohibition of liquor in the state many times. In such a situation, the matter was in the headlines across the state. Congress praised Uma Bharti’s move as courageous.
