The Yogi Adityanath government is going to pay a unique tribute to Bapu in the Amrit Mahotsav year of independence by supplying tap water to rural families on the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, the father of the nation.
Jal Shakti Minister Swatantra Dev Singh, in a meeting with the officials of Namami Gange here on Friday said the government had set a target of providing water from tap to 75,000 new families on October 2.
“The tap water supply to the homes of poor and farmers will be a true tribute to Bapu,” the minister said and added that officials should also give information to villagers about the importance of cleanliness.
To expedite the scheme, the minister has asked officials to communicate with the officials at the grassroots level and implement the schemes on the ground. He also instructed engineers to regularly conduct on-spot inspection of the Jal Jeevan Mission work.
Principal Secretary (Rural Water Supply) Anurag Srivastava, Jal Nigam Managing Director Balkar Singh, and State Drinking Water and Sanitation Mission Executive Director Priya Ranjan Kumar were also present in the meeting.
