Thursday, 26 May 2022 | PNS | BARIPADA

Unidentified miscreants shot dead a cattle trader from West Bengal and decamped with Rs 20 lakh at Hatbadra village under the Rural police station in Rairangpur block of Mayurbhanj district on Wednesday.

The deceased was identified as Jamus Alli of Kambali police station in West Bengal.

Sources said some traders from the neighbouring State came to Hatbadra to buy cattle. At around 7 am, four miscreants came and fired three rounds at two traders at the cattle market. They later decamped with the cash from their possession.

Alli, who collapsed on the ground after the firing, was later declared dead by doctors at Rairangpur hospital. A bullet is suspected to have hit him on the chest, sources said.

Meanwhile, the Rural police have registered a case, sent the body for postmortem and began an investigation.
