Woman Naxalite surrenders in Bijapur

A woman Naxalite carrying a reward of Rs 2 lakh on her head on Saturday surrendered to the police in Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur  district.

Mangali Ursa (33) turned in before the police citing disappointment with the "hollow" Maoist         ideology, Bijapur Additional Superintendent of Police Pankaj Shukla said.

She was a member of Platoon No 12 under the Gangaloor Area Committee of the outlawed Maoist movement, he said.

She was given financial assistance of Rs 10,000 and will be rehabilitated as per the state government’s policies, Shukla said.
