In line with his vision to empower the youth of Uttar Pradesh on a priority basis, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has taken phase-wise initiatives to create abundant opportunities for them within the state itself.

Ensuring progress of the youth, the Yogi Adityanath government in the first six months of its second tenure, has provided employment to 93,682 youths through Rojgar Melas. In addition, over 1.42 lakh youths have been provided career guidance through career counselling sessions during this period.

Moreover, lakhs of youth have also been provided self-employment opportunities.

Yogi Adityanath’s Bharatiya Janata Party-led government has made significant efforts to foster sports culture, which has enabled the youth of the state to perform and shine internationally.

The government has not only worked to support the athletes, but also develop sports infrastructure in the state. Taking inspiration from Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s resolve to encourage athletes and sports activities, the Yogi government 2.0 has ensured encouragement and inclusiveness of women in sports.

Besides undertaking the skill development programme, promotion of technology-driven sectors like aviation and drones are also opening new employment avenues for the youth in the state.

Rojgar Melas making youth self-reliant

Progressing on the mission of providing employment or self-employment opportunities to at least one person in every family in Uttar Pradesh, the Yogi government in its second tenure has so far provided employment to nearly 93,682 youths through over 900 Rojgar Melas organised in the last six months.

At the same time, 1,42,402 youths got guidance in 1,752 career counselling sessions. From the start of fiscal 2022-23 till September 12, 15,01,49,762 mandays have been created through schemes and programmes operated in various departments. In the first term, under the leadership of Yogi Adityanath, the state government had given government jobs to over five lakh youths with utmost transparency. Besides, 1.61 crore youths were associated with various employment-oriented programmes. In addition, 60 lakh youths were linked with self-employment.

Fellowship scheme empowering youth

Through the Chief Minister's Fellowship Scheme, the state government has provided a platform to young research scholars. The Chief Minister's Fellowship Scheme received an overwhelming response in the state with over 26,000 youths applying for it.

Students from reputed institutes like the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) and National Institute of Technology (NIT) have also been availing the scheme. Under the scheme, young candidates are provided Rs 30,000 per month to complete their fellowship research, Rs 10,000 for tours and Rs 15,000 for purchase of mobiles/tablets.

Sports infrastructure

The government has been engaged in developing world-class sports infrastructure for the youth in the state. Under this, a state-of-the-art stadium is under construction under the Smart City Project in cities like Kanpur Nagar and Varanasi, while there is a plan to develop proper sports infrastructure in each district. Sports hostels with 50 beds each are being built in cities like Mirzapur, Aligarh, Basti, Devipatan and Moradabad, while stadiums are being built in cities like Shamli and Hapur.

An international cricket stadium is also under construction in Varanasi.

The government is providing both recognition and monetary rewards to the players performing well at the national and international levels. Besides, the government is also coming up with a new sports policy, after which the budding athletes will be given more facilities. Sports culture is also being encouraged at the school-college level. For this, the government is providing all the necessary things including funds and equipment.

Focus on upgrading skills of youth

The government has also taken various steps for improving the skills of the youth of the state. In the last six months, under the Skill Development Mission, more than one lakh youths have been linked with different programmes, while about 10,000 youths have been trained and given employment or self-employment opportunities.

A target has been set to train 10 lakh youths in the state. At the same time, preparations are also being made to open the state's first skill development university in Varanasi.

Drones, tech opening new employment avenues

Under the Dual System of Training (DST) introduced by the Directorate of Training, industrial training is also being provided to the youth in various polytechnics and ITI institutes of the state. Industrial training, under this, in sectors like aviation and drone technology, will also be imparted. Besides, the government's emphasis is also on generating efficient manpower in the fast emerging solar energy sector. With this, the youth will get an opportunity to meet the increasing demand for employment in these new sectors.
