A youth was found in a half-burnt state near the Sikharchandi hill under the Info City police station in Bhubaneswar on Thursday morning.
He succumbed to the burn injuries while being shifted to a hospital. The deceased was identified as Abinash Pradhan (22) of Balipada village under the Nandankanan police station.
A motorcycle was found being parked at the spot of the incident.
However, it was still not clear whether the youth was murdered or he attempted to end his life.
The Info City police have started an investigation into the matter and detained four men for questioning.
It was suspected that he was murdered in the Nandankanan area by multiple persons while his body was set on fire and dumped at the hill for elimination of evidence.
Pradhan’s family members have also alleged that he was killed.
DCP Prateek Singh said prime facie it appears to be a suicide case as a suicide note has been found in the youth’s bag. But investigations are on.
