Saturday, 01 October 2022 | PNS | Lucknow

In a suspected case of honour killing, the body of a 20-year-old youth was found on the railway track in Farrukhabad on Friday morning, according to the police.

The deceased was identified as Suraj Yadav, a native of Nekpur Kala under Kotwali Fatehgarh.

According to the police, the body was found on the railway track near Nekpur between Fatehgarh and Farrukhabad , located near his house, on Friday morning.

The mother of the deceased, in a complaint to the police, has accused the relatives of the girlfriend of the victim of killing her son and later throwing the body on the railway track to make it look like a case of accidental death or suicide.

The girl’s family also lives in the same locality.

According to the complaint, about 12 days ago Suraj Yadav had gone somewhere with the girl and later Suraj's family members forced him to send the girl back to her house.

The woman said in the complaint that the girl’s family had threatened her son of dire consequences. She accused five named and unknown people of killing her son.

On receiving information, Superintendent of Police Ashok Kumar Meena, Circle Officer Pradeep Kumar, Kotwali head Vinod Kumar Shukla, SOG in-charge Ashok Kumar and police field unit team reached the spot.

The SP said that the body was sent for autopsy and a case was being registered on the basis of the complaint. He said that four teams had been constituted for the investigation and if the probe established that the victim was murdered then necessary action would be taken against the accused.

In another sensational double murder in Hardoi, a home guard and his wife were killed by slitting their throats with a sharp-edged weapon. Their bodies were found on Friday morning.

When the local residents came to know about the double murder, they immediately informed the police. The cops rushed to the spot and sent the bodies for post-mortem.

The double murder took place in the Kaimau area under Baghauli police station of the district. A retired home guard was living with his wife. On Friday morning, the neighbours found the doors of his house lying open and when they got no response from the house, they went inside and were shocked to find the couple lying in pools of blood. It appeared that someone entered the house sometime in the night, killed both and escaped.

Superintendent of Police of Hardoi, Rajesh Dwivedi, along with CO Baghauli and ASP (East) reached the spot for investigation. Dwivedi said that so far no enmity came up during investigation but he had formed teams and the case would be worked out soon.

There is a possibility of the hand of someone close to the family, he added.

IG Lucknow Range, Lakshmi Singh, also visited the spot and directed the local police to work out the case at earliest.

Meanwhile in Shahjahanpur, a couple allegedly committed suicide on Thursday over harassment by moneylenders, police said on Friday.

The deceased were identified by ASP (City) Sanjay Kumar as Satish Chandra (42) and his wife Mansa Devi (40), natives of Basant Vihar Colony.

While Chandra was found hanging from the ceiling fan, his wife was found lying on the bed with a noose around her neck, he said.

According to a letter found in the man's pocket, he had taken a loan of Rs 1 lakh from one person and Rs1.50 lakh from another person. Although he had paid the money back to the lenders they were pressuring him to pay more money due to which he took the extreme step, the letter stated.

It appears that Chandra first strangled his wife to death and then hanged himself, the ASP said.

A case was registered and the bodies were sent for autopsy. Further investigations are underway.
