Spirituality leads towards a better tomorrow

Mind is like a fertile land. When you plant a seed, the earth mass will help it sprout and then grow into a full-fledged plant. Land, left to itself, may breed weeds. Similarly, mind acts on thought feeds, it acquires from various sources. It usually takes off on thought seeds carried over from the past, coming as they may as Karmic carryover. That sets the trends of one’s desire and mind trends, thus conditioning the mind one way or the other, which varies from person-to-person. For everyone would have gone through different courses of learning and unlearning as well as varied experiences in the past. They, however, play out at their optimal level when the person grows up to a level when his sense of independence takes the drive.

In between, during early childhood, how one is groomed, does also have a long- term impact on their mind and psyche. At that age, the child is not capable of comprehending the happenings in the right perspective. But, what they encounter, their impressions get imprinted in the deep realms of one’s mind. If per chance, the family atmosphere would be vitiated, it makes a dent particularly in their emotional framework, and with obvious consequences. That keeps influencing a person’s thought process even till late in life, unless otherwise consciously resolved.

It will not be out of place to mention here that birds have two wings to fly. With one wing, they can’t fly. Similarly, human beings have been provided with two working tools to carry forward their journey of life – Intelligence and Emotion. Intelligence devoid of emotion, make you stale. You work like a machine having no human concern. But if ever emotional upsurge side lines intelligence, it may drive you crazy. So, we need to keep the two tools in balance. Ordinarily, we remain conscious about improving our knowledge and intelligence. But we seldom care to work upon our emotional framework. For this very reason, we become subject to stress and suffering, is how my spiritual guru explained in one of his discourses.

Here is a case study in sight, which speaks of how a fully grown person could not come out of his hang, even till late in life. First, look at thought seeds carried from the past. Like any ordinary mortal, he too carried a baggage full of good and bad. Lagna lord Sun is conjunct benevolent Jupiter, the 5th lord identified with poorva punya (merits accrued in the past). That makes him a very well-meaning person with a positive orientation, who may follow a value system and never stoop low in life for personal gains. His conduct will be dignified and may enjoy an honourable status. Mind signifying Moon, incidentally the 9th sub-lord, which again occupies the nakshatra owned by Jupiter, read together with the above combination is indicative of seeds of spirituality imprinted deep within. Intelligence signifying Mercury beautifully aligned to psychic planet Neptune brings in humane sense having compassion and sympathy for others. He would be known for his refined conduct.

Towards the negative side, Moon is conjunct Neptune, both placed adverse to emotion signifying Venus and Karmic Saturn. Mars in debilitation is opposite Venus. This, in the first place implies that he would be subject to limitation and hardships. He would be habitually suspicious and critical of others. Also, he would carry a sense of fear and insecurity. Second, he may not acknowledge truth on its first appearance and would try to look for an escape route, till pushed to the wall. Third, he would be emotionally touchy and sensitive. When encountered with unsavoury situations, he gets emotionally hurt even on trivial issues, and keeps dwelling on them for long. Fourth, he remains vulnerable to domestic discomfort. All these negatively oriented thought seeds got triggered when he encountered unpleasant situation at the hands of none other than his parents, as would afflicted Moon, the 9th sub-lord identified with father may mean. Consequently, he though kept growing career-wise, his personal life went for a toss.

When he was going through his worst emotional crisis, he came across a spiritual group, which helped him stand the ground for long despite all odds. Having pursued that for long, and not yet satisfied, he is now looking for fresh leads, as would his high spiritual quotient call for. He has now been put to a course of wisdom bound devotion. That will help him clean his mind of all negative impressions from the past, transcend them, and pick up leads towards a better tomorrow.
