If you love exploring the history of silverwares, then it’s time to head to the National Museum in Delhi where Denmark’s finest and rare collections of silver works will be on display along with those from India from Monday.
The exhibition will be inaugurated by Denmark’s Crown Prince Frederik Andre Henrik Christian and Crown Princess Mary Elizabeth in the presence of Meenakshi Lekhi, Minister of State for External Affairs and Lars Lokke Rasmussen, Foreign Minister of Denmark. It will open for public viewing till April 30th.
Danish Museum Kolding’s rare historical collection ranging from the formal 18th-century corpus silver to the Gangsted Foundation Collection, to silver objects from the transition between traditional silver to avant-garde and modern silver will be a visitor’s delight at the exhibition to be opened on Monday. The first of its kind joint exhibition is part of the cultural exchange programme between the two nations.
In this regard, last year a memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed between the National Museum, New Delhi and the Danish Museum Kolding, Denmark.
The exhibition “Silver Treasures from Denmark and India” focuses on Danish and Indian silver artefacts, where both the museums will elucidate the beauty and magnificence of craftsmanship in both the countries.
The exhibition will showcase the best selection of 200 objects in total.
