Special Judge, POCSO, Ranjan Kumar Sutar on Tuesday convicted a rape accused and sentenced him to seven-year rigorous imprisonment (RI) along with a fine of Rs 7,000.
Bhaskar Sahu, a resident of the Baliapal police station area, had been arrested following an FIR by the victim’s mother. The woman’s FIR mentioned that she with her family was residing in a rented house of Sahu. On September 16, 2021 afternoon when no other member of the family was in the house, Sahu called her minor daughter to his room and sexually assaulted her. She came to know about her daughter’s ordeal when she returned from the local market.
Police after registering a case under section of rape and the POCSO Act arrested the accused.
