Mayor of Bhopal Malti Rai speaking to inter faith leaders on Tuesday called their support to make sure that each child in Bhopal goes to school, reduce child labour, increased efforts on sanitation, waste management and say no to use of tobacco in children and young people. She was speaking to around 125 interfaith leaders in Bhopal from diverse religions in a special meet organised on the theme of child rights and sanitation by Bhopal Municipal Corporation and UNICEF at BMC hall in Bhopal.
She sought support from Inter Faith leaders as people listen to them and you can help getting rights of children are realised and we have improved sanitation coverage. She added that we are not in the race to be first but want to create a change which matters to Bhopal and make our city more clean and better.
Speaking at the Inter faith meeting Anil Gulati, UNICEF, Madhya Pradesh spoke on child rights and seeking support of faith leaders on learning, ending violence, sanitation as you can be a strong advocate on the child rights.
Gautam Mahatao, SBCC Expert, Technical Support Unit Department of Urban Administration and Development, spoke on the need to focus on sanitation, waste management and solid waste management.
Mayor in Council Bhagel spoke on the support from faith based leaders and how important it is to make a change in Bhopal. M.P. Singh, Additional Commissioner, Bhopal Municipal Corporation, was present at the meet . Janhvi Dubey, Consultant with BMC coordinated the event.
In addition to the Inter Faith meeting, meeting of representatives of Hawkers Corners and markets associations was held wherein around 70 representatives had participated with focus on hygiene, say no to to plastic, use of sanitation facilities and handwashing with soap.
