Cold weather conditions prevail in parts of Pb, Hry

Chandigarh: Cold weather conditions prevailed in most parts of Punjab and Haryana on Sunday, with Muktsar reeling at a low of two degrees Celsius.

While Muktsar in Punjab registered a minimum temperature that was below normal, severe cold weather conditions also prevailed in other places, including Ferozepur, which recorded a low of 2.5 degrees Celsius and Faridkot, a minimum of three degrees Celsius, according to the Meteorological Department’s weather report. Gurdaspur recorded a low of 5.5 degrees Celsius, while Patiala also experienced a cold night at 6.4 degrees Celsius.

Ludhiana’s minimum temperature settled at 6.3 degrees Celsius while Amritsar recorded a low of 6.2 degrees Celsius.

 

 

 

Two-minute silence on Martyrs Day

Shimla: Himachal Pradesh government’s spokesperson on Sunday informed that on January 30, every year, two minutes’ silence is observed, throughout the country, in the memory of those who sacrificed their lives during the struggle of India’s freedom. Silence will be observed on January 30, 2023, Martyrs’ Day, at 11 am throughout the State. Work and movement stopped for two minutes in all the government offices, educational institutions, and public sector enterprises. Talks, speeches on freedom struggle, national integration will also be organized in hybrid mode.

 

Punjab Govt to spend Rs 2.03 cr to provide facilities at Ropar

Chandigarh: Punjab Local Government Minister Dr Inderbir Singh Nijjar on Sunday said that the Government has decided to spend about Rs 2.03 crore on laying water supply and sewage lines at Railway Road Nangal and laying UPVC sewerage lines at NCC Academy Ropar. Minister directed the officials of the Water Supply and Sewerage Board to ensure transparency and quality in the development works being carried out.  He has also instructed the officials to ensure strict adherence to the guidelines of the government in carrying out the works.

 

Milind Soman to run Gillco’s ‘Run For Health’ marathon

Mohali: Gillco Group, Mohali, is organizing a ‘Run for Health’ marathon in tricity on February 5 where Indian actor and fitness enthusiast Milind Soman will take part as event’s brand ambassador. Group managing director Tejpreet Singh Gill said: “Run for Health’ is an initiative to promote health and fitness among individuals of every age group. Thousands of participants will take part in it for a good cause which will be flagged-off from Sukhna Lake.”
