Opium, poppy husk being brought from Jharkhand seized in Haryana

Chandigarh: Haryana Police has arrested a truck driver in Kurukshetra district after 6.5 kilograms of opium and 10 kilograms of poppy husk that were being brought from Jharkhand, were seized from his vehicle.A spokesperson of Haryana Police said that the arrested accused has been identified as Deepak Kumar, a resident of district Fatehgarh Sahib, Punjab. The truck bearing a Punjab registration number was intercepted near Shahabad flyover following a tip-off about smuggling of drugs. The police team got secret information that arrested accused Deepak Kumar used to go to Kolkata, Jharkhand after loading the goods in a vehicle and bringing back the goods from Jharkhand as well as drugs for sale. Even today he is bringing drugs from Jharkhand. Acting swiftly, a police team established a naka and intercepted the truck in which 6.5 kg opium and 10 kg poppy husk was recovered. The truck was seized and the driver was arrested under relevant provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act. Further investigation into the case is underway.

 

Ensured equitable development of all assembly constituencies without discrimination: Haryana CM

Faridabad: The BJP government in Haryana has ensured equitable development of all assembly constituencies without any discrimination, Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar said. After inaugurating three projects worth Rs 39.70 crore in Ballabhgarh, he said that because of the government's investment-friendly policies, Haryana is drawing investments, both domestic and foreign.  ''During the eight years of our government, we have gifted new projects to every assembly constituency of the state without any discrimination,'' he said.  The projects inaugurated by the chief minister were the sub-divisional office complex in Ballabhgarh built at a cost of Rs 11 crore, Sushma Swaraj Girls College built at a cost of Rs 27 crore, and the renovation and beautification work of Rani Ki Chhatri with an amount of Rs 1 crore 70 lakh.

 

Himachal CM assures the best medical treatment for muscular dystrophy child

Shimla: Himachal Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has assured all possible financial assistance for the treatment of 14 years son of Prem Lal resident of Barsar of district Hamirpur, who is suffering from muscular dystrophy. The parents of the child, named Arun met Sukhu on Friday and urged for help, as they were not in a position to bear the expenses of the treatment.   The Chief Minister assured of all possible assistance and issued further necessary directions to the district administration.

 

Punjab VB nabs MC clerk for taking bribe

Chandigarh: The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) on Friday nabbed a clerk Rajesh Kumar, posted in Nagar Council Kurali, SAS Nagar district for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 8,000. A spokesperson of the VB said the official has been arrested on the complainant of Balkar Singh, resident of Dashmesh Colony, Kurali. The complainant approached the VB and alleged that the clerk has demanded Rs 10,000 as a bribe to issue no objection certificate (NOC) of his plot required for its registration purposes but the deal has been struck at Rs 8,000. A VB team laid a trap and the accused was arrested on the spot while taking a bribe of Rs 8,000 from the complainant in the presence of two official witnesses.

 

Pb minister Bains directs officials to complete regularisation process of contractual teachers and employees

Chandigarh: Punjab School Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains, on Friday, directed the officials of the department to complete the regularization process contractual teachers and employees at the earliest. Presiding over the meeting of the members of services regularization committee, Bains said the entire process should be speeded up. He said that the Punjab government had issued a welfare policy on October 7, 2022 for regularisation of services of contractual employees. About 13000 employees of the Education Department applied under the policy, thus the verification process was initiated by the department, which is about to complete. He informed that about 700 contractual teachers were deprived of applying due to some technical issues, whose database has been prepared through District Education Officers. The process of regularization of the services of these employees is at final stage and soon these employees will be incorporated as regular employees in the department.  The Minister instructed committee members to immediately settle the complaints pertaining to data and service records of some contractual employees.

 

PSPCL awarded as top performer for energy conservation measures

Chandigarh: Punjab State Power Corporation Ltd. has been awarded as top performer among all DISCOM's PAN India for Energy Conservation measures under PAT (Perform, Achieve and Trade)   program of Ministry of Power GOI. The award ceremony was attended by H.L. Goyal Chief Engineer Energy Audit and Enforcement, on behalf of PSPCL during celebration of 21st foundation ceremony of Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE)  held at New Delhi. Punjab Power Minister Harbhajan Singh ETO said that 80,686 nos Energy saving certificates  (ESCerts) were issued to PSPCL during PAT cycle-II by Ministry of Power. He also shared  that the value of each  ESCert is around Rs.1,840  thus total value of Rs 14.84 Crore and these can be traded at Power Exchanges. The Power Minister said that the Top performer award and letter of appreciation was given to PSPCL by  R .K. Singh Cabinet Minister of Power, at Delhi. 

 

A delegation of Berozgar Kala Adhayapak Sangh met CM

Shimla: A delegation of Berozgar Kala Adhayapak Sangh (Drawing teachers) met Himachal Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Friday and urged him to declare the result of the screening test for the posts of drawing teachers.  Sukhu said that the teachers play an important role in the development of the state and assured them that the State Government would consider this matter sympathetic
