IPS probationers call on Punjab CM

Chandigarh: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Monday held an introductory meeting with a fresh batch of three Indian Police Services (IPS) probationary officers of the 2021 batch of Punjab cadre, who have recently completed their basic training. The probationary officers, including Akarshi Jain, Jayant Puri and Vineet Ahlawat met Mann. Welcoming the young officers in Punjab, he asked them to work diligently and with full honesty and told them to build a modern and highly efficient policing ecosystem while working for the betterment of the state.

257 clusters selected under phase one of HP Shiva main project: Himachal CM

Shimla: Asian Development Bank's Project Readiness Financing Mission team led by Sunae Kim, Team Leader for the HP Shiva Project, met Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Monday and briefed about the objectives and scope of the mission.  Sukhu said that 257 clusters have been selected for the first phase of Rs. 1292 crore HP Shiva main project and target has been set to benefit about 15,000 farmers and orchardists by setting up orchards in an area of 4,000 hectares. He said that this project will be implemented in 5 years and sub-tropical fruit-crop gardens will be set up in about 400 clusters on a total of 6 thousand hectares of land in two phases.

Joining process of 5500 selected male constables started in Haryana

Chandigarh: Haryana government has initiated the joining process of 5,500 selected male constables in Police Academy, Madhuban, Karnal.  An official spokesperson said that under the joining process, the candidates are undergoing medical examination followed by police and document verification respectively. About 150 policemen have been put on duty during the joining process to ensure that the candidates do not face any kind of inconvenience. 

Gear up to make G20 event in Amritsar a success: Mann to officials

Chandigarh: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Monday asked officials to gear up to ensure that the G20 meet scheduled later this month in Amritsar is a huge success. Punjab is fully ready to host the mega event, he said after reviewing the arrangements for the same.  “Leave no stone unturned to make this event a huge success,” Mann said.  On Sunday, the ruling AAP asserted that the G20 meeting slated in Amritsar will be held on schedule after some opposition leaders raised fears that the Centre could shift the event over law-and-order concerns following the Ajnala incident.  On Monday, Mann said, “Rumour mongers will never succeed in tarnishing the image of state.” G20 events on education are scheduled to be held in Amritsar from March 15-17 while the L20 meeting on Labour is scheduled for March 19-20. A sub-committee of the Punjab Cabinet was formed last year to oversee the preparations for the G20 events in Amritsar.  The chief minister said the state government is duty-bound to make elaborate arrangements for the comfortable stay of the dignitaries participating in the event in Amritsar.  He said the guests will be offered traditional Punjabi food and also be given a glimpse of the rich Punjabi culture.

Himachal CM Sukhu inaugurates Sujanpur Holi festival in Hamirpur

Shimla: Himachal Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu inaugurated the four-day national-level Holi festival of Sujanpur Tira here on Sunday. He also performed puja at the ancient Radhe Krishna temple and sought blessings for his family and the people of the state. Sukhu also opened an exhibition set up by various government and private entrepreneurs.  Cultural nights and urban pottery items by artists of Hamirpur, Kangra and Mandi districts of Himachal Pradesh will be the highlight of the festival.

Punjab Minister Harjot Singh Bains urges teachers to enroll their wards in government schools

Chandigarh: Punjab School Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains on Monday urged all the teachers and principals of the department to enroll their children in government schools.  In a letter to government teachers, school heads and teachers’ associations, Bains said, “Let us be a part of the efforts being made by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann to make the state ‘Rangla (vibrant) Punjab'”.  The minister said he is following the vision of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and continuously striving to provide qualitative education to students by making the school education system up to date. He said he is very happy to see the dedication of the teachers towards ‘Mission 100 per cent’. The scheme is aimed at empowering schools to achieve 100 percent results. Referring to the admission campaign, Bains said its purpose is not only to increase the number of students but to also restore the confidence of the common people by connecting society with government schools.
