Punjab VB arrests PSPCL JE taking Rs 20k bribe

Chandigarh: Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) on Tuesday arrested a Junior Engineer (JE) Bakhshish Singh for taking a bribe of Rs 20,000. Spokesperson said that the accused JE Bakshish Singh, posted at PSPCL sub-station Guru Har Sahai, Ferozepur district, has been arrested on the complaint of Dalip Singh of Kuti village, and Pawan Kumar of Guru Har Sahai, Ferozepur district. They alleged that the said JE had demanded and taken a bribe of Rs 20,000 in four installments in lieu of installation of electricity meter and transformer at his flour mill in Mothan Wala village in Ferozepur.

AAP disregarding eminent govt medical institutes: Bajwa

Chandigarh: Senior Congress leader and Leader of Opposition in Punjab Vidhan Sabha Partap Singh Bajwa on Tuesday lashed out at the Aam Aadmi Party-led State Government for leaving some of the prestigious government-run medical institutes in the state at lurch. Bajwa, citing some media reports exposing AAP’s negligent approach towards government-run medical institutes, said that the government dental college in Amritsar is running with only eight teachers against the sanctioned strength of 56. He added, Baba Farid University of Health Sciences (BFUHS), Faridkot, is functioning without a full-time Vice-Chancellor for the past six months.

Hry Technical Education signs an MoU with Cisco Company

Chandigarh: Haryana Technical Education Department on Tuesday signed an MoU with Cisco Company for the convenience of the students of Polytechnic Institutes, Engineering Colleges and Technical Universities of the State. The MoU was signed by Director General, Technical Education Department Rajiv Rattan, on behalf of the department and Ishvender Singh signed on the behalf of CISCO. Cisco is an American-based multinational digital communications technology conglomerate corporation that operates at national and international levels and is also running a networking academy. It will provide about 35 courses free of cost and these courses make students job ready for the technological domains. Apart from this, the Directorate of Technical Education will conduct seminars, workshops and courses etc. through the Cisco WebEx platform. On this occasion N.I.I.T. Foundation's General Manager Amar Gupta and Region Head Tarun Sharma, Principal of Government Polytechnic Sonipat Anil Sehrawat and other senior officers were also present
