Thursday, 26 January 2023 | PNS | Lucknow

The Bundelkhand region, which remained neglected and underdeveloped during the previous regimes, has attained success in attracting investments under the Yogi Adityanath government ahead of the proposed UP Global Investors’ Summit.

District Jhansi has so far broken the record of all the districts in the investors' summits being held at the local level in the districts of UP. So far, more than 146 proposals worth Rs 1,11,610.90 crore have been received by the government, out of which memorandums of understanding (MoUs) have been signed for investment worth about Rs 65,000 crore. Among these, a MoU amounting to Rs 50,000 crore has been signed in the field of energy.

Jhansi Investors’ Summit was organised on Wednesday for the purpose of encouraging investors, making them aware of the schemes of the government and solving their problems.  Local entrepreneurs as well as investors from other parts of the country also participated in this summit and got their doubts cleared.  Before the Global Investors’ Summit, more than 146 proposals worth Rs 1,11,610.90 crore have been received in Jhansi district.

At the Jhansi Investors’ Summit, Union Minister of State for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, Bhanu Pratap Singh Verma, informed the investors about the schemes and incentives being received from the government.

Most of the investors in Jhansi district have shown a keen interest in the energy sector. Along with this, a large number of investors have shown interest in tourism, housing, defence and MSME sectors.

Jhansi's Chief Development Officer Junaid Ahmed said that the maximum investment in the district was coming in the energy sector.  “Many units of tourism and housing are also coming up here. This will result in creation of massive employment opportunities, giving jobs to about 58,000 people,” he said.

Verma said that in the field of defence, the parts which till now used to come from outside, would now be made in the Defence Industrial Corridor of Jhansi. “The people of Bundelkhand will get benefits and their economic condition will improve significantly,” he pointed out.
