Thursday, 02 March 2023 | PNS | Chandigarh

The Canadian province of Saskatchewan has offered to enhance cooperation with Haryana in the field of food and energy security. Under this, a six-member Canadian delegation led by Premier Scott Moe met Chief Minister  Manohar Lal Khattar and discussed issues of mutual cooperation in various fields.

The delegation also included former Prime Minister of Canada, Stephen Harper.

During the meeting, the Chief Minister apprised the delegation of the geographical conditions of Haryana. He expressed hope that the visit of the delegation to Haryana would be a good experience. “Haryana is an agrarian state and ranks first in India in per capita income and GST collection. More than 400 Fortune companies of the world are doing business in Gurugram. Haryana ranks second in India after Bengaluru in IT and software,” he said.

Khattar also shared the experience of his visit to Canada in 2016 with the delegation and said that skilled and unskilled manpower is available in Haryana and cooperation can also be increased in logistic warehousing.

Premier Scott Moe informed the Chief Minister that Saskatchewan's trade offices are established in countries including India, Mexico, United Kingdom, United Emirates, Vietnam, China and Japan. “With Haryana, we can also enter into an agreement for cooperation in uranium, energy products, agricultural fertilizers and aviation technology,” he added.
