For the first time in Indore, the "Central Zone Sports Tournament" of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research was inaugurated on Tuesday.
This four-day long competition is being organized in the premises of the School of Physical Education of Devi AhilyaVishwavidyalaya, Indore. On this occasion, Vice Chancellor of Devi AhilyaVishwavidyalaya Renu Jain as chief guest while guest of honor included CR Mehta, Director of Central Agricultural Engineering Institute, Bhopal. The Directors of the University and ICAR added dignity to the event, in which Sudhira Chandel, Director, Physical Education, DAVV, Indore; Aniket Sanyal, Director, Nishad, Bhopal; A.B. Singh, Director, Indian Insititute of Soil Research, Bhopal; JS Mishra, Director, Directorate of Weed Research, Jabalpur; Dr BP Bhaskar, Director, NBSS&LUP, Nagpur; Dr Sharad Chowdhary, Dean, College of Agriculture, Indore; Dr Deepak Mehta, Head, Physical Education, D.A.V.V.; Dr KC Sharma, Head, IARI, Regional Wheat Research Center, Indore were present.
At the outset, Dr KH Singh, Director, IISR, Indore expressed his gratitude to Renu Jain, the chief guest of the program for extending the sport infrastructure and the facilities to the players of national agricultural research institutes.
In her remarks, Renu Jain said that these are some important moments of life which you spend while playing, but victory and defeat should be adopted with sportsmanship. She added "Adopt the results with spirit, give the best contribution and try to improve everytime". While announcing opening of the competition open, she mentioned an inspirational quote"The most satisfactory life is that which is spent in the pursuit of becoming the best version of yourself".
On the first day of the competition various games like; Football, Volleyball, Kabaddi, Athletics, Javelin Throw, Discus Throw and Badminton were played.
