Scores of devotees stood waist deep in rivers, ponds and other water bodies to worship the setting sun as Chhath was celebrated with traditional fervour in Chhattisgarh on Sunday.
The festival is celebrated only in those parts of the state which has a presence of people from Bihar and Uttar Pradesh.
The Chhath puja was held on the bank of Kharun river near Hatkeshwarnath, a popular temple dedicated to Lord Shiva.
Other Chhath prayer venues were along the banks of several other ponds in the state capital.
The devotees offered fruit baskets and other delicacies to the Sun God.
The festival will conclude on Monday morning with the worship of the rising sun.
