The first case of hospitalisation of a Covid-19 patient in the year 2023 in Odisha has been reported after over four months. The male patient, who belongs to western Odisha, has been admitted to the VIMSAR, Burla.
A special team of doctors is looking after the patient, who is under treatment in the isolation ward of the hospital.
State Director of Health Services Bijay Mohapatra reportedly said that experts would examine as to which variant of Covid-19 has infected the patient.
Meanwhile according to official sources, 10 more Covid-19 cases have been reported in the State in the past 24 hours, following which the total number of cases increased to 52.
A top official said that over 4,000 Covid tests are being undertaken in the State every day and the positive rate has remained below the national average.
The State Government has, meanwhile, strengthened the systems for surveillance of ILI (influenza-like illness) and SARI (severe acute respiratory infections). A person who shows symptoms like cold, cough, fever and sore throat has been advised to isolate himself and undergo Covid-19 tests. The concerned district-level surveillance units have been alerted to constantly monitor the situation.
