Security forces arrested five Maoists on Thursday after a gun battle in Sukma district in Chhattisgarh.
The gunfight took place in the jungles of Kottalendra village when the security forces were on a search operation, Sukma Superintendent of Police Sunil Sharma told The Pioneer.
A joint squad of Konta and Errabore police personnel and District Reserve Guard were dispatched following inputs about the presence of Naxalites.
An exchange of fire broke out when the security forces were cordoning off the forest near Kottalendra village, the officer said.
Five Naxalites -- Madkam Bheema alias Pandu, Sodi Mada, Madkam Bheema, Madvi Deva and Madkam Joga -- were apprehended, he said.
