The governor lieutenant general (retd) Gurmit Singh flagged off the Advanced Neonatal Transport Ambulance (ANTA) developed by the Himalayan Institute of Medical Sciences at Raj Bhawan on Tuesday.

The ambulance would help in treatment and care of the new born babies. Speaking on the occasion, the governor said that the ambulance equipped with advanced features would help in meeting the challenges related to the new born babies. He said that the Himalayan Institute has taken an appreciable step in the direction of providing healthcare facilities to the general public. The governor said that the ambulance would help in taking the new born babies to the higher centres for treatment. He said that the facility should be publicised in order to ensure that more and more people avail its benefit.

The vice chancellor of the Swami Rama Himalayan University Vijay Dhasmana said  the ambulance will be most effective in transporting patients from peripheral remote areas, other hospitals and centers to Himalayan Institute of Medical Sciences, Dehradun and will be taking the new born babies  from HIMS to specialised advanced medical centers, for any specific desired treatment.
