Infant girl found dead

In a shocking incident, a one-and-a-half-month-old girl sleeping near her mother went missing under suspicious circumstances in Pipri locality of Kaushambi district.

During the search, her body was recovered from the water tank on the roof of the same house. The police sent the body for post-mortem and started an investigation.

Dinesh Pal said that his sister Savita slept with her one-and-a-half-month-old daughter after dinner on Sunday night. When Savita opened her eyes at around 1 am, the daughter was missing. She searched the house but failed to trace her out. Savita subsequently raised an alarm following which other members of the house also woke up and started searching for the girl. The local police were also informed about the disappearance.

After a lot of research, on Monday morning, the girl was found in the water tank kept on the roof of the house. She was taken to the nearest hospital for treatment but the doctors pronounced her dead.

Dinesh said that his sister was married to Avinash Pal of Akil police station area. Avinash works in Delhi. After 14 years of marriage, the couple had a daughter through IVF.

Meanwhile, a 48-year-old woman allegedly died after being administered an injection by a quack in Bhadohi district. The accused was arrested by the police.

According to the police, the woman died on Friday after she was administered a wrong injection in a clinic in the Semradh area that comes under the Koirauna police station limits.

Citing the complaint filed by the victim's family members, Station House Officer Brijesh Kumar Maurya said Patti Devi (48), who was taken to Rajan Vishwakarma, the alleged quack and she died after she was administered an injection. The body was sent for post-mortem.

Based on the complaint, police registered an FIR under various sections of the Indian Penal Code and arrested the accused on Sunday.

"The accused failed to produce any medical degree before police," the SHO said.

Meanwhile, in a tragic road mishap in Sultanpur, three men died and seven were injured when three motorcycles collided with an SUV on Sunday, police said.

The accident occurred in the Akhandnagar police station area in the afternoon when the SUV, which was being driven by a local Samajwadi Party leader, collided with three speeding two-wheelers coming from the opposite direction.

Kadipur Circle Officer Shivam Mishra said three men, who were on the motorcycles, died on the spot.

They were identified as Pravesh (35) of Phulpur in Azamgarh, and Ramasare (70) and Dilip Rajbhar (55) of Mirpur in Ambedkar Nagar.

"Seven other people were injured in the accident. They were rushed to a hospital by local people and police teams," the CO said.

District Magistrate of Sultanpur, Ravish Gupta, told media persons that the Revenue department and the sub-divisional magistrate had been directed to helping the deceased`s relatives, and Ambedkar Nagar administration had been instructed to provide better treatment to the injured.

In another mishap, a school teacher died while her husband and son had a narrow escape when they met with an accident near Kusamhi forest in Khorabar area of Gorakhpur district.

The teacher was going to Kushinagar by motorcycle with her husband and child. On the other hand, the accused driver absconded after the accident.

According to reports, Nidhi Pandey of Kasya in Kushinagar district was a 35-year-old teacher. She came to Gorakhpur on Sunday for some work with her husband Vivek Pandey and two-and-a-half-year old son. Late at night she was returning home by motorcycle when a speeding vehicle hit her near Kusamhi forest. Nidhi sustained head injury and died on the spot while her husband and son remained unhurt. Nidhi's husband Vivek is a businessman.

Another tragic mishap took place on Sunday night in Sonbhadra district when a high speed trailer hit three motorcycle-riding youths. In this accident, all three youths died on the spot. The accident happened near Turra intersection in Pipri police station area. The trailer driver fled the spot with the vehicle.

Pipri police station incharge, Dinesh Pandey said that the three youths were of VIP Colony of Turra area under Pipri police station. The deceased youths were identified as Ashish (17), Saurabh (18)  and Mohit (17).

The three friends had gone to Renukoot on a motorcycle to celebrate Ashish’s birthday.  While returning, a speeding trailer going towards Anpara ran over their vehicle killing all the three friends.
