Wednesday, 08 February 2023 | Staff Reporter | bhopal

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that Ladli Laxmi Yojana has proved to be a scheme to bring changes in the lives of daughters of the state. With the implementation of the scheme, not only did the girls get scholarship amount, but a new era of their empowerment has started. With the expansion of the scheme, now the government will also do the work of depositing fees for higher education in Ladli Laxmi 2.0. After the Ladli Laxmi Yojana, now in the Ladli Bahna Yojana, women from poor and middle class families will get an amount of one thousand rupees per month. By empowering girls and sisters, efforts are being made to bring them into leadership roles through their participation in environment-protection, de-addiction and other social campaigns.
Chief Minister Chouhan was transferring the scholarship amount in the accounts of Ladli Laxmi daughters of the state at Kushabhau Thakre auditorium in Bhopal today.  Chouhan transferred scholarship amount of Rs. 107 crore 67 lakh to 3 lakh 33 thousand 842 Ladli Laxmi girls with a single click. Awards were also given to 5 Ladli Laxmi girls for their outstanding achievements in the state level programme. Bhopal Mayor Smt. Malti Rai was present in the programme. The programme was broadcast through webcast and other mediums in the entire state. In Panchayat and Anganwadi centres in different districts, sisters and daughters also joined this programme virtually.
There are more than 44 lakh Ladli Lakshmi daughters in the state. Information about year-by-year progress and rising importance of the scheme in the last 16 years was also provided in the programme. The Chief Minister digitally distributed scholarship amount to more than 3.25 lakh girls studying in classes 6, 9, 11 and 12.
The Chief Minister said that Ladli Laxmi Yojana, launched in the year 2007, has worked to bring about changes in the lives of girls. With the implementation of the scheme, a positive change has also been seen in the attitude of the society. The birth of daughters has also been encouraged. Evils like child marriage have been controlled. The participation of girls in education has received a boost. Cent percent enrollment in schools of daughters born in the family has also started.
Chouhan said that before becoming an MLA, while giving a speech in favour of daughters in a public programme he had received a challenge from an elderly woman that would you arrange for the marriage of the girls of the family. This incident prepared the ground for Ladli Laxmi Yojana.
Chouhan said that earlier discrimination used to be seen at the time of birth of a son and a daughter in the family, it was painful. After becoming the MLA in the year 1990, MP in the year 1991 and Chief Minister in the year 2005, he has started the work of providing financial assistance to the girls for higher education, while continuously increasing efforts for the welfare of the girls. Chief Minister Chouhan said that initially there were difficulties in fulfilling the resolution of not letting the daughters remain a burden. The self-confidence of girls has increased due to the arrangement of the budget by the state government and the implementation of Ladli Laxmi Yojana by linking it with studies. This is the reason that today, along with education, girls have presented examples of participation in activities other than the field of sports and culture. No stone will be left unturned to make their lives better.
Chouhan said that the state government will make arrangement of the payment of fees for those taking admission in college through Ladli Laxmi Yojana 2.0. The state government will arrange fees for medical, engineering, law courses as well as other courses related to higher education. Education of the girl child will empower the family.
