Live Surgery Workshop held at Annual Conference of JHOS

On the first day of the 20th Annual Conference of Ophthalmologists under the aegis of Jharkhand Ophthalmological Society, live surgery session was organized at Kashyap Memorial Eye Hospital, Ranchi. The event was seen by all the ophthalmologists of Jharkhand present in the auditorium of KMEH and they asked questions and answers to the surgeons present in the OT. Apart from this, through live surgery webinar, many eye doctors of the state joined in this live surgery and asked questions. Dr. B.P. Kashyap, Dr. Bibhuti Kashyap, Dr. Malay Verma, Dr. Nidhi Gadkar Kashyap, Dr. Sitesh Bargal and Dr. Pooja Kumari were the OT coordinators in this live surgery. Live surgeries were performed from 4 operation theatres.

Chairperson, Scientific Committee, Jharkhand Ophthalmological Society, Dr. Bharti Kashyap, said that 12 types of new eye surgery techniques were demonstrated in the live surgery session of the annual conference of the Eye Society.

In the first session of live surgery, implantation of different types of premium intraocular lenses used in cataract operation and Femto laser assisted cataract surgery were demonstrated from the regular Phaco operation theatre and Femto laser Operation Theatre.

In the second Glaucoma session, Dr. Manish Pandey demonstrated the new technology of Glaucoma Surgery, Tube Implant. In the third retina session, Dr. Anirudh Maity demonstrated complex retinal surgery.

In the fourth session by Dr. Krishna Prasad Kudlu transplantation of IPCL was shown. In patients with high minus power or thin cornea or dry eye, IPCL is  beneficial for those whose minus power cannot be reduced by LASIK laser.

Dr. Lalit Verma, President of All India Ophthalmological Society and Dr. Harbans Lal, Vice President honoured all the doctors who participated in the live surgery by giving mementos, shawls and bouquets.

Institutions and doctors who have played a significant role in training post graduate students and conducting public awareness campaigns for diabetic retinopathy eye donation and glaucoma were also honoured.

The doctors, who were honoured included Professor Dr. Rajeev Gupta, Dr Rashi Shyam, Dr Anindya Anuradha, Dr Harshita Dabral, Dr. Pooja Kumari, Dr Vivek Kedia and Dr Vinay Gupta. The doctors of RIMS, Ranchi, KMEH, Gandhinagar Hospital, CCL and Bokaro General Hospital, BSL participated in the programme.

Dr Vanathi from AIIMS New Delhi in her lecture before the live surgery told that the patient can choose premium IOL according to his lifestyle, budget and his eye or body ailment. Lens should be selected.
