Thursday, 16 March 2023 | PNS | Chandigarh

With AAP completing one year in office, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Wednesday sought the Governor Banwarilal Purohit’s permission to rejig the portfolios of six Cabinet Ministers.

Chief Minister Mann, in a letter to the Governor, proposed to take away two key portfolios of Housing and Urban Development and Information and Public Relations (IPR) from the two-time MLA Aman Arora, who is the third senior most Minister in the State Cabinet, after the Chief Minister and Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema.

Mann has himself kept the portfolio of Housing and Urban Development, while IPR has been given to Chetan Singh Jouramajra.

The Chief Minister also proposed to take away the Governance Reforms Department from Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer, and Removal of Grievances from Anmol Gagan Maan, while handing over both to Arora. In addition, Arora also gets Employment Generation and Training, earlier handled by Mann.

Even though the office of Punjab Raj Bhavan confirmed receiving the Chief Minister’s letter regarding reshuffling of portfolios, the Governor was yet to give his approval till the filing of the story.
