Five persons were reportedly killed while some other labourers were injured in a mysterious powerful blast in an illegal chemical factory in Bulandshahr on Friday morning.
The explosion was so powerful that the people around were shaken and its sound was heard about two kilometres away from the blast site. The glass in the windows and doors of the surrounding buildings were shattered. Even the body parts of the dead were found scattered far and wide due to which the police failed to identify the victims.
According to Senior Superintendent of Police of Bulandshahr, Shlok Kumar, there was information about a cylinder blast on Dial 112. When the police reached the spot, they found four people killed in the explosion. At present, the fire brigade and forensic teams are investigating the cause of the blast along with carrying on rescue work.
The SSP said that the injured were shifted to hospital.
Sources said that one injured died later in the hospital.
Besides the SSP, District Magistrate Chandraprakash Singh also reached the spot for investigation.
Sources said that a chemical manufacturing factory was being run in the house and some explosive material was being prepared.
The cops said that they were still looking into the matter and trying to identify the owner of the house. They claimed that stern action would be taken against the owner if the factory was found to be running illegally.
