Newlywed woman flees with bro-in-law

Tuesday, 21 March 2023 | PNS | JAGATSINGHPUR

In a bizarre incident, a recently-married woman ran away with her former boyfriend, reportedly her brother-in-law, while she was visiting her parental house in Pateli village near Alipingala in Jagatsinghpur on Saturday.
The woman Jhili Nath had married one Tofan Nath, a resident of Bhapur village under the Balipatana police limits in Khordha district on March 11, 2023. After Astamangala, both were on their way to Tofan’s village when at Alipingala Bazar they stopped to purchase sweets. There, Jhili met her brother-in-law Ranjan Nath. Tofan couldn’t object when Jhili talked to Ranjan. But Ranjan took Jhili in his bike and fled from the area.
After waiting for a few hours, Tofan called his parents, members of his in-laws' family and the marriage mediator but could not gather any information about Jhili. Later, he lodged an FIR in the Jagatsinghpur police station that his wife had been kidnapped by Ranjan. Police have launched a probe.
