Hanumanganj police have arrested a 28-year-old vehicle thief, recovered two Activa vehicles worth Rs 1 lakh, accused is an active criminal of Bareilly police station, Raisen district and was on way to commit serious crime claimed police.
On receiving information on Saturday regarding the absconding accused Syed Amir (28) of Mandi Mohalla Bareilly district Raisen was found with a stolen Activa vehicle, which was taken into police custody and he was interrogated.
On interrogation, the accused told to drive the stolen scooter Activa by using a fake registration number plate, on which the fake number plate was seized. Based on the scooter Activa vehicle engine number it was found to be stolen from Kotwali police station area and a case has been registered with the police station for the same. Two Activa vehicles stolen from Hanumanganj police station and Kotwali area have been recovered from accused Syed Amir Ali.
The accused was on his way to commit crime could be ascertained at the moment and would be investigated. The accused is a habitual offender.
The accused has been booked for several crimes in the past. He was booked under Arms Act, theft, rioting, M.P. State Security Act. A total of 15 criminal cases have been registered against the accused.
Police said that more crimes would be revealed and details of aides who have helped in disposing of the vehicles would also be revealed by the accused in the further investigation.
