Bokaro police busted a motorcycle lifters' gang in the town and arrested five persons here on Tuesday. Superintendent of Police, Chandan Kumar Jha said an SIT was instituted with Harla Inspector cum Officer in charge Santosh Kumar, SI Vikash Kumar Tiwari ,SI Praveen Horo and others last week following which all vehicle theft cases in the past few months were investigated that led to the arrest of 5 people and the recovery of 7 vehicles and 3 no of mobiles from them.
The arrested bike lifters have been identified as Robin Singh, Ravi Kumar Saw, Vishal Kumar Chatterjee, Chandan Kumar Mahto and Moti Thakur. They belonged to Bokaro and Dhanbad district. The apprehended persons have been forwarded to judicial custody.
Talking about the modus operandi, the SP said that after stealing the bikes from different locations of the district they used to sell the stolen motorcycles for minimum cost to Moti Thakur. After his disclosure, the police arrested all four bike lifters namely Robin Singh, Ravi Kumar Saw, Vishal Kumar Chatterjee and Chandan Kumar Mahto and recovered 7 bikes and 3 mobiles from their possession, added the SP. Among the recovered bikes, mostly were stolen from Bokaro.
