Rajasthan health Bill protested by IMA

Saturday, 01 April 2023 | NIMAI CHARAN SAHU | SAMBALPUR

--Withdrawal demanded

: The IMA (Indian Medical Association) branch of Bargarh demanded the withdrawal of the 'Right to Health Bill' of the Government of Rajasthan with immediate effect. "This bill is totally illogical and intended to harass doctors in private practice or having their own nursing homes," alleged IMA secretary Dr Subal Kar.

Health and education are to remain under the complete control of the Government. But when the Government fails to do so, private service systems are coming up. It has also become beneficial in two ways. That people are getting the desired health service from private doctors, and the burden on the Government is getting minimised. Further, the doctors and nursing homes are paying 18 types of taxes to the Government and hence strengthening the State exchequer, said Dr Pyarelal Tripathy and Dr Prabin Agrawal, members of IMA.

As per the Bill, the private practitioners, clinics and nursing homes are bound to provide casualty treatment to the patients free of cost. But this treatment is totally the responsibility of the Government as it is risky and time bound. Hence, the Bill designed to involve private health sectors in casualty treatment is nothing but an attack on them that will ruin their credibility, said Dr Bhimsen Sahu and Dr Rajesh Tripathy.
