A road safety week began in Chhattisgarh on Wednesday. It will end on January 17.
The Chairman, Inter-Departmental Lead Agency (Road Safety), Sanjay Sharma, said events will be held through the week in collaboration with various organizations.
These would include Chhattisgarh Police and the departments of Health, Education and Transport.
The duration of the week has been fixed by Ministry of Road Transport and Highways.
During the week, NCC, NSS, Bharat Scouts and Guides, school students and traffic in-charges and other partner organizations will collaborate across Chhattisgarh.
The programmes include honouring the Good Samaritan, essay competition, short video competition, selfie with safety warriors and awareness campaigns.
The use of reflective tape on the side/rear side of trucks and tractors will be done. Action will be taken to stop vehicles driving in the wrong direction.
