The San and Neel Foundation conducted a free mega eye checkup and operation camp here on Tuesday in association with Sankar Eye Hospital.
Chairman of SMIT Group of Educational Institutions Dr Bhagawan Ghantayat graced the event as chief guest and inaugurated the camp. The members of the Foundation felicitated Dr Gantayat for his humanitarian services rendered to society and more particularly in the field of education.
Chairman of San and Neel Foundation and noted social activist Lion P Dharma Rao led the event, while secretary S Chittibabu Achary, vice president Ganesh Patro, Kiran Patro, Giridhar Patnaik, K Roja, Minakshi Devi and Saiappanna coordinated. Hrushikesh Rath VCT, Abhiman Chowpatnaik, MLOP and Madhumita Brahma tested the eyes of all 102 patients and rendered necessary advice.
Free spectacles were provided to 20 patients, while 22 patients were advised to go for cataract surgery and shifted to hospital by bus for the purpose. The treatment, testing, fooding and operation were made completely free, said Rao.
