A minor boy and his minor sister died after their kutcha house collapsed on them on Sunday night in Kirsia village in the Subeha police station area of Barabanki.
The children’s grandparents were also injured in the accident.
Additional Superintendent of Police Akhilesh Narayan Singh said that in the accident, the brother-sister duo, Fian (8), his sister Samaira (6), grandfather, Haleem, and grandmother, Nasreen, got buried under the debris.
He said that villagers made significant efforts to pull them out, but unfortunately, Fian and Samaira succumbed to their injuries. Their grandparents were rushed to the Community Health Centre, from where Haleem was referred to the district hospital, while Nasreen was currently undergoing treatment.
Meanwhile, in separate incidents in Siddharthnagar and Budaun, five children reportedly died from drowning on Monday, the police said.
