Three Punjab cops to get President medal for distinguished service, 15 for meritorious service

Punjab police’s three IPS officers — Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) G Nageswara Rao; IGP Border Range, Amritsar, Mohnish Chawla; and Muktsar Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Opinderjit Singh Ghuman have been awarded President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service, while 15 others get Police Medal for Meritorious Service.  

Recognizing Punjab police’s outstanding services, the Union Ministry of Home Affairs announced the names of Punjab Police officers or officials, on the eve of 74th Republic Day, to be awarded President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service (PPMDS) and Police Medal for Meritorious Service (PMMS).

An IPS officer and Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG), Ferozepur Range, Ranjit Singh, and four PPS officers — Commandant RTC PAP Jalandhar Mandeep Singh, ADCP City-2 Amritsar Prabhjot Singh Virk, DSP Vigilance Bureau Unit Sangrur Parminder Singh, and DSP CID Unit Sangrur Charanpal Singh, are among 15 cops who have been selected for the Police Medal for Meritorious Service.

The remaining officials are Inspector Tajinder Singh, Inspector Harjinder Singh, SI Daljit Singh, SI Jagtar Singh, SI Baljit Kaur, SI Jugal Kishore, ASI Raj Kumar, ASI Jaspal Singh, ASI Rakesh Chopra, and ASI Piara Singh.

The state DGP Gaurav Yadav, congratulating the awardees, expressed gratitude to the Central Government and State Government for recognizing the services of these officers and boosting the morale of the entire Punjab Police force. “Such recognition plays a significant role in encouraging the Police force to work with more dedication and devotion, which is very much required in a border state having manifold security challenges,” he said.

 SI among four Punjab cops to be awarded CM’s Rakshak Padak Award

A sub-inspector among four Punjab Police officials will be awarded the Chief Minister's Rakshak Padak Award on the occasion of Republic Day this year. Besides, five PPS officers and six others will also be conferred with Chief Minister’s Medal for Outstanding Devotion to Duty.  

The names of the awardees were announced by the Punjab Governor on Wednesday, on the recommendations of the Punjab Government.
 
For Chief Minister’s Rakshak Padak award, the Governor announced the names of four cops, including SHO Police Station Kotbhai Sri Muktsar Sahib SI Raman Kumar, ASI Harpinder Singh, head constable Gurnam Singh, and head constable Harinder Singh.

Similarly, five PPS officers — AIG Flying Squad Vigilance Bureau Manmohan Singh, AIG Excise and Taxation Gurjot Singh Kaler, DSP Vigilance Bureau Slamudin, DSP STF Ludhiana Range Ajay Kumar, and DSP Garhshankar Daljit Singh Khakh — are among 11 officers or officials who have been selected for the Chief Minister’s Medal for Outstanding Devotion to Duty.

The other officials are Inspector Sarabjit Singh, Inspector Vivek Chander, Inspector Bhupinder Singh, SI Jujhar Singh, ASI Davinder Singh, and ASI Bhag Singh.

 
14 HARYANA COPS TO GET POLICE MEDALS 

The Union Ministry of Home Affairs on Wednesday announced that 14 Haryana Police officers/personnel have been awarded medals for distinguished and meritorious service. Out of the 14 awards announced, one officer will receive the President's Police Medal for Distinguished Service and 13 will get the Police Medal for Meritorious Service. Amitabh Singh Dhillon, Inspector General of Police (Modernization) has been awarded with the President’s Police Medal for distinguished service. Those who have been selected to be decorated with Police Medal for Meritorious Service include Satender Kumar Gupta IGP (Karnal Range) Karnal, B. Sateesh Balan IGP (STF), Virender Kumar Vij DCP (East) Gurugram, Surender Singh DSP (CID) New Delhi, Raj Kumar Ranga ACP Panchkula, Hari Kishan Inspector State Crime Branch, Ramesh Kumar Sub-Inspector (SI) Ambala, Dinesh Singh SI 1st IRB Bhondsi Gurugram, Naresh Kumar SI Rohtak, Devender Kumar ASI Panipat, Ram Pal EASI (CID) Chandigarh, Sajjan Kumar ORP ASI Hisar and Sunil Kumar Head Constable Panchkula.
