Many people go for some special arrangement or the other in order to make their marriage day a memorable one. Some opt for destination weddings at a lavish cost, while some go under sea to exchange the rings and some also jump from planes to take marriage vows in the sky. But a youth in Subarnapur district dedicated his marriage day to a social cause. He donated blood.
Navaruna Debadutta Satpathy of Birmaharajpur has been championing the cause of blood donation as a social activist. So, when his marriage was fixed, he decided to make it memorable by organising a blood donation camp.
Speaking to The Pioneer, Navaruna said he felt he would be serving the society better through collection of blood instead of spending after marriage. “When I proposed the idea, both I and my wife’s families agreed to it as there cannot be a greater achievement than saving somebody’s life by donating blood,” he added.
At the camp, Navaruna was the first to donate his blood before proceeding to his marriage.
